Which practice software does it work with?

Any practice software on a Windows computer, in its own window or in a web browser. PerioMaxer types values in from the keyboard, pressing the same keys a person would.

Two systems set up automatically and take each value as it is spoken: Open Dental, verified on 25.3 and expected to work on 24.4 and later, and Dentrix, verified on 26.12 through 26.15 and expected to work on 23.9 and later. Open Dental needs no plugin. Dentrix means the version installed on your office computers, not Dentrix Ascend.

Everything else, Dentrix Ascend included, works through Manual mode: chart on the phone, send the chart to the office computer, click the first cell of the perio chart, and PerioMaxer types the values in. We have not tried every system or every version; the free first week is the time to make sure before anything is billed.

Does it work without a phone?

With Open Dental or Dentrix, yes. The desktop charts from the computer’s own microphone, or any microphone plugged into it, and the phone app is optional. Manual mode charts on the phone.

Does it work with Android?

Yes. The free PerioMaxer app ships for iPhone and Android. Same charting, same pairing.

Do clinicians need accounts?

No. Only the practice needs an account, for billing and operatories. Clinicians download the free app, tap My office already has PerioMaxer, and scan the code on the office computer. No login, no payment, no per-phone setup.

How is it priced?

By computer count: Solo covers 1 operatory computer, Small 4, Medium 9, Max 20. One flat price per plan. Phones and tablets are unlimited on every plan. Every office plan starts with a 1-week free trial (card required), and annual billing saves 17%.

Can two phones chart on the same computer?

One at a time. The most recent phone to scan the computer’s code holds it. A displaced phone shows Scan to reconnect and can scan again to take back over.

Does patient data touch your servers?

No. Voice is recognized on the device that heard it, and chart values move phone to computer over your own network. Our cloud holds your account and which computers are signed in, nothing about patients. The one exception is an office that cannot put phones and computers on one network and asks us to carry charting over the internet instead. See HIPAA and your data.

What happens if I cancel?

The desktop apps lock on their next check, right away. Your patient data is unaffected. It lives in your practice software and was never on our servers.
